  3. The <I>fontenc</I> package</A>

  6. Users can select new font encodings using the |fontenc| package.  The
  7. |fontenc| package has options for encodings; the last option becomes
  8. the default encoding.  For example, to use the |OT2| (Washington
  9. University Cyrillic encoding) and |T1| encodings, with |T1| as the
  10. default, an author types:

  12. This package loads the <B>encoding definition files</B>
  13. (|;SPMlt;ENC;SPMgt;enc.def| files) for each font encoding <#618#>ENC<#618#> given as an
  14. option but not already declared; it also sets || to be
  15. the last encoding in the option list.

  17. L<SUP><SMALL>A</SMALL></SUP>T<SMALL>E</SMALL>X<#619#><#619#> currently predefines the |OT1| and |T1| text encodings, and
  18. provides the files |OT1enc.def| and |T1enc.def|. Other encoding
  19. set-ups might be added to the distribution at a later stage.
